Conference July 2008

Training July 2008

Both events central London

This definitive conference brings together two leading forces in the field of domestic violence to challenge, inspire and engage you in the issues like never before.

“Excellent programme and performance and conference. Thank you for keeping domestic abuse issues alive and helping women become aware of the issues.”

The conference will give delegates an introduction to the Nationally Acclaimed Freedom Programme, currently running at over 100 venues across the UK. Programme Creator, Pat Craven, developed this challenging and motivating training following over ten years of ‘hands on’ work with violent men. Pat will help conference delegates to understand how the Freedom Programme can help men and women to recognise and understand the beliefs held by abusive men and help women gain self-esteem and confidence. Additional speakers include programme facilitators and graduates from the programme.

"Very positive - shows that there is light at the end of the tunnel!”

Certain Curtain Theatre Company has been challenging and inspiring audiences with its own unique brand of theatre since 1989. They will perform their ground-breaking play LADY IN RED (Shortlisted for the Amnesty International Freedom of Expression Award and WINNER of the Outstanding Achievement Award 2007) followed by an after-show discussion with the writers and actors.  Hear the unheard voice of the victim as she attempts to leave – Power and control, physical, emotional and psychological abuse, fear of the unknown and ‘Why doesn’t she just leave?’ are just some of the issues raised in this contemporary look at domestic violence.

"This play really answers that question 'Why doesn't she just leave?' Brilliant" Nurse

TRAINING EVENT

02.07.08 - 04.07.08

TRAINING for facilitators who want to run the Freedom Programme in Central London. This programme changes the lives of the women, men and children who complete it. This comment is from a facilitator from Newport Women's Aid.

'This programme has helped so many people and its simple formula makes it easy for all organisations involved in domestic abuse, to "speak the same language" and make a difference in the community. Thank you so much for your training and foresight into a problem that will help women to stay safe.'

This comment is from a woman whose partner attended the Freedom Programme for men. 'He used to be horrible until he attended Pat's programme. Now he is lovely and Social Services have let us have our baby back.'

There much more feedback etc on the web site http://www.freedomprogramme.co.uk
