The Campaign aims to challenge myths about rape, and bring the truth and realities of rape back onto the public agenda
TAR is a women only campaign that aims to:
· To challenge the myths surrounding rape and to tell the truth about rape
· To inform the public of the extent and nature of rape
· To bring the issue of rape back onto the public agenda, ensuring the voices of women survivors are heard
· To raise public awareness about how the Criminal Justice System is failing women who have been raped
· To campaign for more funding and resources nationally for Rape Crisis Centres
Objectives
· To run high profile media campaigns challenging the women-blaming myths that exist about rape
· To run a national postcard campaign challenging the myths about rape, and giving the truths
· To run a high profile campaign informing the public about the lack of justice received by women who have been raped
· To work closely with feminist organisations such as the Campaign to End Rape to respond quickly to Government proposals around rape and media responses about the issue
· To develop creative and innovative ideas with strong visual impact that get the message of the campaign over powerfully to the public
· To encourage famous women to become involved in the campaign, to raise the profile of TAR
· To develop a handful of prepared statements ready to be press released to the media in response to news coverage on the issue.
· To work towards getting corporate sponsorship of the campaign, to fund high profile national public awareness campaigns on the issue of rape.
· To produce guidelines for rape survivors in the campaign working with the media, and guidelines for journalists using the campaign.
